Burning with Desire

I have been walking past these coffee logs at our local Booths store all winter.  This Valentine's Day seemed like the perfect excuse to buy them as a gift and give them a go. At £8 a bag I felt I needed an excuse.

They are made from used coffee grounds (~25 cups' worth in each log), which are dried and then compacted to form logs to go on a wood burner or open fire. They don't look like much, but we have given them a go and they do last longer than your average piece of wood. "20% longer and hotter than dry wood" And it is not 'virgin' fuel - the company coffee logs UK who make them have a strong green ethos.  They save 80% of green house gas emissions and reduce waste in landfill.  I am glad I tried them as they are easy to use, do what they say on the bag, don't give you splinters or snag clothing.  And as a side-note they do not smell of coffee!

As an added bonus (silver lining), all the recent storms have been great for collecting fallen branches on the ground for kindling to start the coffee logs off.
