Recycling Contact Lenses

For anyone who uses contact lenses this may be worth reading...  

Yes, unfortunately the soft ones are generally single-use and come in lovely little plastic blister packs which cannot be recycled in your general kerb side collection.  However, I recently discovered TerraCycle, and Acuvue have created a recycling programme for them.  There is a list of venues that collect on the TerraCycle website but I spotted this one at out local opticians Wendy Diddams. They accept the blister pack, contact lenses and the foil.    So we store them up and when the pot is full, we take them down to be recycled into amongst other things, garden furnitures.  Look out for a recycling box near you.
