The Afterlife of a Toothbrush

So what do you do with your used bamboo toothbrushes?   I feel these beautifully smooth pieces of shaped bamboo still have some purpose after they are no longer able to be used as toothbrushes.

So what's to be done:
  • Just put them in the bin?
  • Remove the bristles and add them to your compost bin?
  • Keep them and use them as cleaning brushes, around taps, in grout etc?
  • Remove the bristles and use the bamboo for kids arts and craft?
  • Remove the bristles and use the bamboo in garden for markers etc?

These well-used children's brushes have found their new home in a potter's studio, where they will continue their life for a good few years for sculpting and shaping.  I always love the thought that not only are these brushes not plastic, but they also have so many potential uses.

If you have any old plastic tooth brushes, remember these can be recycled at Terracycle points along with your toothpaste tubes.  Just like the one here in Wilmslow at LJ Natural.
