Refill Shops
Where do you shop to avoid waste and plastic?
I am really lucky to have a few options available locally and then there is an amazing resource of stores on the internet I have tried.
What I love most about all the places I go to for food refills is they are all different and are run by people who are really passionate about their own journey and sharing tips and pointers. The Wilmslow Community Shop is definitely worth looking into if you are local - they sell dried food through their Facebook food group. Simply message Florence through the group to arrange a time to meet at LJ Natural store on Altrincham Road where the stock is stored. Take your empty jars to be filled. This time I filled up on cashews, almonds, sunflower seeds, cranberries, pine nuts, quinoa, raisins and dates (dates not photographed as they did not last long in our house hold, they are amazing!) All these items are really hard to find plastic free in standard supermarkets, so I love that this is so convenient. I am so pleased to have found this great community initiative. The logistics of running a full blown shop or market stall can be costly but this shows it doesn't have to be all or nothing to make it work.
Join their Facebook page The Wilmslow Community Shop to see what stock is available, what they are up to and get some great local tips on reducing plastic and waste.
Below are all places I visit regularly and will definitely visit again.

Generally I have found I buy a lot less since the beginning of my journey, but when I do need new shampoo, tooth brushes I have visited &Keep (not for food but worth a look). Do think before you buy: it all looks amazing but do you need it or can you use something you already have? Link here to one of my previous posts on using what you already have?
