Wipes
There is a wipe for everything theses days, face wipes, baby wipes, floor wipes, cleaning wipes the list goes on. And since watching Hugh's War on Plastic we now know they all (or nearly all) contain plastic. Since the beginning of 2019 I have not bought any wipes. To be honest I had not given much thought to what they were made of but they all come in plastic so that was that, no wipes.
At the beginning of the year I started using lovely warm water, a simple flannel and a bar of soap. The perfect alternative to face wipes. A cut up muslin work really nicely too and is soft on your skin.
This year I have also re-purposed bamboo breast pads for face wipes. They work really well, pop them in the bag and wash them when you next put on a load of whites.
For wipes for the kids we have cloths we use in the kitchen specifically for mucky hands and faces. In the bathroom we have small baby face flannels from Poundland for nappy wipes. The nappy wipes go in with the nappy wash and the face cloths just in with the normal wash.
For cleaning the house I have old cut up t-shirts. Once I have used them I pop them in the wash and then use them again and again. Not only no plastic, but no waste either.
