Free Water - Refill in Knutsford

So you have your reusable water bottle with you.  But what happens when you are out and about and you have drunk all your water?  You could fill up from the sink in the loos, or ask in a café…  Or look out for the blue circular Refill sign.

I love this as an idea and concept, and luckily Knutsford signed up last summer.  These signs are scattered about in the windows of: shops, jewellers, cafes, hairdressers, printers, florists the list goes on.  What I love is it is a mix of local independent businesses and national shops that have joined the scheme.   A town of free water.

Are you in a town with a Refill Scheme?  Download the app to find out.  Or get your town involved.  This is an international scheme which aims to make it easy, convent and cheap to fill up your water bottle.  And more than anything brings another level of awareness about the use of single use plastic bottles.

The idea behind the scheme from Refill:
"Currently, less than 30% of people in the UK drink tap water in a reusable bottle, despite the fact that we are lucky to have some of the best quality, free drinking water in the world.
Refill makes refilling a reusable water bottle easy, fun and more socially acceptable than buying a single-use plastic drinks bottle. We aim to stop millions of plastic bottles at source each year, preventing plastic pollution from entering our rivers and sea.
There is simply no need to buy bottled water, and we’re on a mission to inspire social change."
