Who Gives a Crap
Finding loo roll free of plastic packaging can be very difficult. I did find some in paper but it was a two-roll pack from a small convenience store and very expensive. So when I started this plastic free journey I went on the hunt to find loo roll not in plastic. I went to Costco thinking if I buy in bulk there would be less plastic but there just seemed to be more as the packs of 5x12 loo roll wrapped in plastic were then wrapped together in more plastic! So the hunt began for plastic free loo roll. I came across a few options with compostable packaging but them found Who Gives a Crap on the internet.
Not only do they arrive to your door in a giant cardboard box with no plastic, they are made with 100% forest friendly bamboo, with no inks, dyes or scents. And it gets better: 50% of their profit is given to non-profit organisations working to improve access to hygiene, water and basic sanitation in developing countries.
They have two different types of loo roll on their site. One is 100% recycled (from paper) and the other (which I ordered) is bamboo. Cost wise, yes, £35 does seem expensive for 48 rolls but these rolls are double the length of normal rolls and works out per sheet is actually quite economical, costing no more than we were paying before.
They are offering £5 off your first order here.
We – yes the whole family – are also looking into using family cloth as a way of making this paper last even longer. We still have a reusable nappy bin going and reusable wipes so I am thinking this is just an extension of that. And don't worry for all visitors there will be who gives a crap paper.
